About this washer
This is a washer in PA66 Nylon, at strength class Grade 4.8, supplied black. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A washer spreads the clamp load of the fastener over a wider area of the joint face and keeps the turning nut or head from scoring the part underneath. Fitted under bolts, screws and nuts on soft or painted surfaces, slotted holes, and any joint that is taken apart often enough for the face to matter.
PA66 nylon is a strong, abrasion-resistant engineering polymer used for light-duty nuts, washers and cable hardware. Electrically insulating and non-marking, but it absorbs moisture and softens above about 100 °C.
Grade 4.8 is low-carbon steel at 400 MPa tensile / 320 MPa yield. Suitable for light-duty, non-critical joints and the cheapest option per piece.
