About this washer

This is a washer in 316 Stainless Steel, at strength class A4-80, supplied plain, with an M10 thread and a 40 mm length. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.

A washer spreads the clamp load of the fastener over a wider area of the joint face and keeps the turning nut or head from scoring the part underneath. Fitted under bolts, screws and nuts on soft or painted surfaces, slotted holes, and any joint that is taken apart often enough for the face to matter.

316 (EN 1.4401, A4) adds 2–3% molybdenum, which is what stops pitting in chloride environments. Specify it for marine air, coastal sites, swimming pools, salt spray, chemical plant and food processing.

M10 is a metric thread with an 10 mm nominal diameter and a coarse pitch of 1.5 mm (ISO 261). A standard hex head takes a 16 mm spanner across the flats.
