About this rivet
This is a rivet in 6063 Aluminium, at strength class Grade 4.8, supplied plain, with an M8 thread. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A rivet is a permanent fastener: it is set once and removed only by drilling it out, which makes it cheap and tamper-resistant but not serviceable. Used on sheet metal, ducting, panels, luggage hardware and light structures where the joint is never meant to be opened.
Grade 4.8 is low-carbon steel at 400 MPa tensile / 320 MPa yield. Suitable for light-duty, non-critical joints and the cheapest option per piece.
An aluminium alloy: about a third the weight of steel, conductive and corrosion resistant, but softer — check thread load and galvanic pairing with steel.
