About this rivet
This is a rivet in 316 Stainless Steel, at strength class A4-80, supplied plain, with an M6 thread. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A rivet is a permanent fastener: it is set once and removed only by drilling it out, which makes it cheap and tamper-resistant but not serviceable. Used on sheet metal, ducting, panels, luggage hardware and light structures where the joint is never meant to be opened.
Plain (self-colour) means no coating. On 304 and 316 stainless that is fine — the alloy passivates on its own. On carbon steel it will rust, so choose a coated option instead.
316 (EN 1.4401, A4) adds 2–3% molybdenum, which is what stops pitting in chloride environments. Specify it for marine air, coastal sites, swimming pools, salt spray, chemical plant and food processing.
