About this rivet
This is a rivet in ML08AL Carbon Steel, at strength class Grade 4.8, supplied colour zinc plated, with an M4 thread. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A rivet is a permanent fastener: it is set once and removed only by drilling it out, which makes it cheap and tamper-resistant but not serviceable. Used on sheet metal, ducting, panels, luggage hardware and light structures where the joint is never meant to be opened.
Colour zinc plating is an electroplated finish with a yellow/olive passivate — the older, thicker-passivate version with better salt-spray life than clear zinc.
M4 is a metric thread with an 4 mm nominal diameter and a coarse pitch of 0.7 mm (ISO 261). A standard hex head takes a 7 mm spanner across the flats.
