About this rivet
This is a rivet in ML08AL Carbon Steel, at strength class Grade 4.8, supplied blue-white zinc plated, with an M3 thread. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A rivet is a permanent fastener: it is set once and removed only by drilling it out, which makes it cheap and tamper-resistant but not serviceable. Used on sheet metal, ducting, panels, luggage hardware and light structures where the joint is never meant to be opened.
A carbon steel, the default material for structural fastening. Anything grade 8.8 and up needs a coating — zinc, black oxide or Dacromet — or it will rust.
M3 is a metric thread with an 3 mm nominal diameter and a coarse pitch of 0.5 mm (ISO 261). A standard hex head takes a 5.5 mm spanner across the flats.
Is this not quite the size or grade you need? Ask us — we produce small batches to drawing and to DIN, ISO, GB and JIS standards, and we consolidate pallet and container loads for trade orders.
